Saluda County Jail Roster
No official Saluda County online jail roster or inmate profile search was located on the county, sheriff, or detention-center pages reviewed for the research. For local detainees, the practical Saluda County inmate records channel is the Saluda County Detention Center by phone or in person. The Detention Center is the local jail source for custody questions, while the Sheriff's Office and Dispatch can route law-enforcement questions that are not jail-administration matters.
The lack of a public county roster means state tools should be used only for their own scope. The SCDC incarcerated inmate search is for people sentenced to and housed with the South Carolina Department of Corrections. It is not the Saluda County jail roster and should not be used to rule out recent arrest, local pretrial custody, short-term detention, or a person held before transfer. For arrest-to-charge details after booking, court records and charge records may also be needed.
Saluda County's FOIA policy adds one local fallback. It says documents identifying persons confined in a jail, detention center, or prison for the preceding three months are among records available for inspection or copying during normal hours without written request when the requester appears in person, subject to redaction of exempt information. That FOIA channel is not an online roster, but it matters when someone needs recent confinement information from a public-records route.
Saluda County Jail Contact
Saluda County has one local detention center listed in the official research. The county page names the jail administrator and assistant jail administrator, gives the facility phone and fax, and links to PREA resources, the inmate mail policy, and InteleVisit. The research did not locate a published capacity, pod layout, property release rule, booking classification rule, attorney visit schedule, or public daily jail list.

Search Saluda County Inmate Records
A Saluda County inmate lookup starts by deciding whether the person is likely in the local jail, state prison, released state custody, or federal custody. Local custody questions go to the Detention Center. State sentenced-custody questions go to SCDC. VINE can provide custody-status notification where the agency participates, but VINE is a notification tool, not a complete jail roster.
- For recent local custody, call the Saluda County Detention Center at 864-445-0286 and ask what information can be released.
- For law-enforcement routing, call the Sheriff's Office or Dispatch at 864-445-2112. Use 911 only for emergencies.
- For sentenced state-prison custody, search the SCDC incarcerated inmate database by SCDC number, SID, first name, or last name.
- For past state releases, use the SCDC released inmate search with a release-date range and the county selector.
- For custody-change notices, use South Carolina VINE or the official VINELink app if the relevant agency participates.
- For federal custody, use the BOP inmate locator instead of county or state jail tools.
When a jail search relates to a charge or court date, the jail contact may not be the only source. Court charge details, disposition, bond settings, and future hearings may appear in court records once a case has been filed. Jail custody and court case status are related, but they are not the same record.
Saluda County Inmate Search Fields
Because no official Saluda County online roster was located, the field table comes from the state inmate tools documented in the research. These tools should be described accurately: SCDC search fields apply to SCDC custody, and released-inmate search fields apply to released state custody. For Saluda County jail custody, the documented search method is phone, in-person contact, or the local FOIA inspection fallback where allowed.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| SCDC number | text | no | Use if known for direct state-prison lookup. |
| SID | text | no | State Identification number for SCDC search. |
| First Name | text | no | Used when SCDC number or SID is not known. |
| Last Name | text | no | Used with or without first name in the state search. |
| Phonetic Match | checkbox/control | no | Name matching aid documented for the SCDC interface. |
| Submit / Search | button | yes to run | Runs the SCDC incarcerated inmate search. |
The SCDC released inmate search uses different fields: release date from, release date to, county dropdown, sex offender filter, sex filter, and a search button. The county dropdown includes Saluda, but that still means released SCDC custody rather than a current county jail roster.
Saluda County Inmate Profile Data
No official Saluda County jail profile sample was available for inspection, so the table below uses the SCDC detail inventory documented by official state material. The SCDC family FAQ describes an Inmate Search Detail Report after clicking an inmate name, with a right column labeled "INMATE SENTENCE AND LOCATION." These fields apply to sentenced SCDC inmates. They should not be called Saluda jail roster fields.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Name shown in SCDC results. |
| Sex, race, height, weight, age | Basic identifying fields in the state result list. |
| SCDC ID | State prison inmate number. |
| SID | State Identification number. |
| Admission Date | Date tied to SCDC custody intake. |
| Location | SCDC institution or custody location. |
| Dorm-room-bunk | Living unit information when shown by SCDC. |
| Projected Release Date | Projected release timing if available. |
| Projected Parole Eligibility | Parole eligibility data if shown in the detail report. |
| Sentence Length | Sentence-length detail in the state record. |
County jail details that may be requested by phone or in person can include inmate name, booking date, charges, bond, court date, and release status. The research flagged those as likely requestable fields, not verified online roster fields, so they should be confirmed with the Detention Center before use.
Saluda County VINE Notifications
South Carolina VINE gives custody-status access and lets users register for notifications where the relevant agency participates. VINELink can send notices through channels such as in-app notification, phone, email, text message, or TTY where available. The research also located the official VINELink iOS listing and the Android listing, but VINE is not Saluda-specific and is not a replacement for the Detention Center.
Use VINE when the task is monitoring custody status after locating a person through a jail or prison source. Use the local jail phone line when the task is a current Saluda County custody question. Use the SCDC search when the person is sentenced to state prison. Use the BOP locator for federal custody. Each tool has its own coverage, so no single search covers every inmate record scenario.
Saluda County Inmate Mail
Saluda County's inmate mail rules are detailed and time-sensitive. Non-legal mail goes to an offsite processing address, not the jail building. The mail policy says approved mail is scanned and made available to the inmate through a tablet, while the physical mail is destroyed. Mail sent to the facility after March 31, 2024 is returned to sender unless it is legal or privileged mail, a money order, or a publisher-book item handled under the separate rule.
| Rule or Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Non-legal mail address | Saluda County Detention Center, Inmate Name, Inmate ID Number, Facility ID Number 5234, PO Box 18247, Greensboro, NC 27419 |
| Facility ID | 5234 |
| Envelope data | Facility name, inmate name, inmate ID, facility ID, and complete legible sender return address with sender first and last name |
| Page limit | 10 pages or less per envelope, no larger than 8.5 x 11 |
| Photos via Pay Tel Connect | $0.25 per approved photo, charged to sender |
| Legal mail | Send directly to Saluda County Detention Center, Inmate's Full Name, 205 E Church St, Saluda, SC 29138, marked "Legal Mail" |
Legal mail must be opened in the presence of the inmate. The policy warns against banned materials such as Polaroid photos, glitter, glue, tape, 3D elements, electronic components, contraband, nude or partially clothed photos, and content tied to sex, gangs, illegal acts, violence, drugs, or alcohol. Originals of important papers should not be sent to the processing center.
Calls, Visits, and Messaging
The detention research lists Pay Tel Communications as the inmate communications provider and says the fastest way to communicate with an inmate is by phone or messaging. Account setup is through www.paytel.com or 1-800-PAY-TELL. InteleVisit is linked from the Detention Center page, but the official page did not publish a text schedule, visit length, dress code, visitor ID rules, child-visitor rules, remote visit fee schedule, or visitor approval process.
| Visitation Item | Published Status | Action |
|---|---|---|
| InteleVisit | Linked by the Detention Center | Check the vendor link or call the jail before scheduling. |
| On-site schedule | Not published in official research | Call 864-445-0286 for current visit times. |
| Remote video fees | Not published in official research | Confirm through InteleVisit or jail staff. |
| Visitor approval and ID | Not published in official research | Ask before traveling to the facility. |
Former inmates can request digital copies of scanned mail by emailing l.kelly@saludacounty.sc.gov with the Saluda County Detention Center name, inmate name, inmate ID number, and recipient email address. Once verified, an email link to download postal scans is sent.
Saluda County Inmate Funds
The official Saluda County research did not locate a commissary vendor, kiosk location, money-deposit website, deposit phone number, deposit fee schedule, commissary ordering rule, or tablet pricing list. That gap should be handled directly with jail staff rather than filled with a vendor from another county. Money orders are mentioned in the mail policy, but the policy also says legal and privileged mail, money orders, and publisher-book items should not be sent to the Greensboro mail processing center.
For funds or commissary questions, call the Detention Center before mailing anything. Ask whether money orders are accepted, how the inmate name and ID should appear, whether deposits can be made in person, and whether any processing fee applies. If the answer involves phone or tablet messaging, confirm whether Pay Tel handles that specific payment type or only communications. Saluda County inmate records do not prove account balance, commissary access, or tablet eligibility.
Jail Records and Court Cases
Jail custody, charges, warrants, and court records often overlap, but they are not the same file. The jail may know whether a person is in custody and may have booking-related information that can be released. The court case shows the filed charges, hearing dates, bond orders, pleas, dispositions, and sentencing when the case reaches the court system. A person researching an arrest may need both the jail channel and the court case channel.
SLED CATCH is another separate tool. It provides name-based South Carolina criminal-history reports and does not include wanted persons. It is not a Saluda County inmate search, a jail roster, a VINE notification system, or a live warrant check. The SLED sex-offender registry can help with registry status, including the Saluda-specific SLED/SORT portal tied to the Sheriff's Office, but registry records do not prove current jail custody.
Note: For current Saluda County jail custody, use the Detention Center first because no official online county jail roster was located.
